What is identity verification used for?

You must complete your identity verification in order to sign your documents using the Advanced electronic signature. A Simple electronic signature does not require identity verification. The Project Managers choose the level of electronic signature that a document will be signed with.

The identity verification, along with the other means of authentication (connection to the platform, code received by SMS, IP address), makes it possible to identify a signatory precisely and to ensure that the right person signs the document. This is to guarantee the legal security of the Project and the signed documents by compiling a sufficiently large body of evidence. In the event of a subsequent dispute or litigation relating to the Project, Closd will be able to provide such evidence to identify a document’s signatory accurately.

How do I perform my identity verification?

You can verify your identity at several different times:

– Upon your first connection to the platform, if a window appears asking you to do so;

– At any time, by going to your profile (by clicking on your name at the top right of the interface; or

– Before signing your first document with Advanced electronic signature (you are automatically directed to the identity verification when you click on Sign).

Once you have the identity verification window open, fill in the requested personal information and then upload a high-quality, colored scan or image of your identification document (passport, double-sided identity card or driver’s license). Closd reads the ID and verifies that the information displayed on it matches the information entered on the previous screen.

Your phone number is required so that you can receive a code by SMS when signing. You can change your phone number at any time by going on your profile.

An error message appears if you uploaded a copy of your ID that is too poor to be read or if your ID has expired. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, the Closd support team will contact you.

What kind of ID are accepted?

Passports, identity cards, residence permits or valid driving licenses, from all countries, are accepted.

Do I have to verify my identity for each signature?

No. Once completed, your identity verification is valid until your identity document expires. You can therefore sign as many documents as you want using Advanced electronic signature.

A notification will be sent to you if you have a document to sign and your identity document is about to expire.
